After the novel by Isaac Bashevis Singer
Adaptation and directing: Yevgeny Arye

The legendary play returns to the stage of Gesher Theatre!

Israel (Sasha) Demidov returns to the role of  enslaved Talmudic scholar Jacob.

The play, based on the immortal novel by B. Singer tells a story about love, sincerity and sensuality in a world of aggression and murder. Jacob is a Jewish scholar  sold into slavery after the pogroms against Polish Jewry. There, struggling to preserve his Jewishness, he finds himself falling in love with Vanda, the daughter of his Christian master. Their common love and their forbidden desire sends them on a journey from which there is no return.
